Barking Abbey Ruins

This stunning east London filming location is steeped in local history.

The site of Barking Abbey was founded in 666 AD and later restored by King Edgar in 970 AD. During road works in the 1900s the Abbey foundations were discovered, and the site was subsequently excavated to reveal the ruined foundations you can see there today.

Barking Abbey Ruins are centrally located in the town.

The main line train / tube station is nearby and this location is not too far from A13 and just over 10 miles from M25.

The ruins haven’t got their own car park, but parking can be sourced nearby and restrictions can be organised if required.
